Masked Palm Civet Cat

Seriously, what on earth is cute about this shit producing and parents yelling animal? This thing craps inside our roof on our ceilings and near our air conditioner. Gross!!. According to wiki, I believe this Asian Palm Civet cat or the Masked Palm Civet Cat. The Wild life officer said it was called Musang Pandan based on the scent.

Here are some facts about the Civet Cat.

  • Its not a cat actually, but rather cat like. Ours had a mask like a raccoon, so it could be raccoon like.
  • Did you there is this really expensive coffee that is produce from the dropping of Civet Cats. Yes, they pick up the coffee beans that the Civet Cats defeacate and then roast it and then they sell it ,and people brew it and drink it.
  • There some reports that SARS came from Civet Cats. GOOD GOD!! I am killing it if it sneezes..oh wait.. that can spread the virus.. I am staying away from it.
  • It's nocturnal, meaning it stays up at night and sleeps during the day.
  • It spits.. when I try to get near it to feed it.
  • My mom and dad, are scared of it. My mom never even seen one before. They are both from the Kampung...

Just a blog

Gosh, I felt like I had so many things to write about. So many things going through my head, I felt like telling it all on my blog, but then too much “meroyan” is not good, especially it’s about the same old thing. Well to summarize it all, sometimes I feel so insecure and so worthless when I start to feel stress. Am I smart enough? Why am I still fat? Why can’t I be taller? Are they looking at me? Why is no one looking for me? Why am I still a student, life is not fair, bla bla bla. Then I hit the gym and then I saw people who are fitter that I am, people who lost more weight that I am, those that looked better and so on. However after actually really lifting weights and then running on cross trainer, all I could think was… I am so tired…. I want to stop… When will this end…. I need water… I want to sleep… Yep all that insecurity was just sweated out into the IKEA white towel I have. All I want to do after that is eat and then have a good night rest. People do say I held my head up high, but god knows sometimes I want to crawl into a hole. I think its pretty normal as long I have someone that I could go on and on and on and on about the same thing and then I feel a lot better. Talking is good to let the stress out as long as the person agrees with me :p. Gym is good too, and its always a positive thing, although sometimes I still feel like crap, but at least I am a lighter crap. Food is a double edge, sometimes I will feel good but then the guilt of eating too much suddenly sink in later and on the weights. Okay enough blabbing about things people already know, how about some pictures…

I was invited to another makan2 with a new group of friends that I just met. So I had to bring my signature Oreo Cake. The irony of this cake is that not a single Oreo is used. Just the semi sweet of the cake and the sweetness of my homemade butter frosting gives it the Oreo feel. The cake itself is an instant Tegral Moist cake from Baguzz cake shop, but the cream is something I made from scratch.

This is an old blender it is like more than 15 years old, but still working. I always relate Kenwood with blenders, so I find it weird when there is Kenwood speakers.

Just throw the mix together and let it be mixed by the blender. I would do it by hand, but the mixture is so thick that is gets tiring.

Pop it in the oven and let it bake till the centre of the cake comes out clean. The hand blender is also another family heirloom. This blender existed as long as I can remember. There were many wonderful baking moments with this blended. My mother used to make cakes when I was younger, but now I guess its my turn to do it.

The finish product, all wrapped and ready to be taken to the event.

She and her new hubby (they are newly married couple) live in one of those many high rise in Sentul, which is quite near to some of my friends condominium.

One of the host of that night. The host told me that she found this cat in a "longkang" or ditch, or was it someone else found it.. Anyways, look how adorable he turned out to be. Always playful and mischievous. Quite cute when he was chasing fingers and then he was discipline by his "dad" in the house :)

Getting better in time

I need to get back to blogging and just move on. I feel a bit better but I still use minyak cap kapak regularly because I still feel a bit nauseous in the morning.
Opss the last "surau kayu" was the wrong surau kayu that I went :p. This was the real one.

A small surau with a small number of people. There are more women than men that attends this one. My mother told me the relatives of Yassin, the singer/songwriter attends and leads at this surau. I guess she was right since I could see the resemblance of the Imam and bilal there. There is even one little boy about the age of 3, that walks around us when we pray. He just wonders around looking for his dad who is either the bilal or imam. The very cute and very fair boy was a normal thing at that surau, that no ones gets mad but everybody seem to be smitten by him.

3 kittens out for a quick snooze last week during a seminar at UPM.

At Tesco Kajang, a day before puasa we were greeted a by a troupe of traditional Malay musicians.
Their traditional song and chants fills the air inside Tesco and was a warm welcome to the fasting month.
*I am getting back to my life, I have been putting it on pause for a bit too long. I am gonna be alright but I still can't listen to the radio all that much or watch that much TV. Like most of my friends said, I am going to be alright. I am, I will, I have too...

A New Animal

This is my new animal for my research, an albino guinea pig. This is the first time I held a guinea pig. Guinea pigs are such cowards, they run and hide when you reach their cage, unlike mice who are active, they are very docile and motile. At least they don't bite. However they need to be fed, green leafy vegetables or they will die. I plan to keep one if they start making babies, even though my mother will be against it :D.

Snow White

Yup this was stray cat that suddenly came to our house and made herself at home by entering our home. I think some one just threw her at our house. She was a pretty cat, white fur, blue eyes, very affectionate. She fell asleep on my arms. I fed her some Friskie. Sadly she came just as we were going to Terengganu. I had plans to buy a big cage for her so that we could keep her like a Hamster so that my mom will not go crazy with the cat running around. However my prediction were true, she never came back after we left her. I hope she found a new home and a new owner that will love her as much as I would have.

The day before tomorrow..

bYah today was a relatively normal day, but I had to make appointment with my lecturer to check the viability of my toxoplasma in my mice. The results were dissapointing. NO MORE PARASITE :(...

This so called "macho cute" pose was actually a diversion of the nice clouds in the background :)

The dead one.. it got infected with bacteria not parasites :(..

A funeral for the mice..... just the mice not the whole cage :D

Suprise me... there was a catfish inside the store where they stored the shovel.

Mice infected with Plasmodium brugei a rodent type malaria, used to study anti malaria medicine.

Lapor and bored and thinking about mice.

It was a nice and sunny day kat golf, so pleasant to eat. Too bad tetiba so many people came to eat. My order came quite late.

Work, blog or study.. choices I have to make each day :D

Klinik was empty today

Empty and yet I have to wait for so long.

Went out today to get my fave magazine, sunblock for CNY activity and medicine. People told me I made sounds when I breath, the doctor say my sinuses are blocked. If it does not get well I have to seen an Ear, Throat , Nose specialist..

Till Death Do Us Part

Some title right... Till Death Do Us Part, well my master project is something like that. I will stick to it till I can finish it or until death disables me from finishing it. It was an okay day for me, nothing new, just eating lots of mandarin oranges that the suppliers gave to the lab. I will have great skin and clear intestinal tract from eating too many of these mandarin oranges :D...

Just some of the catalogues that the supplier gave me so that I can order some equipments or chemicals from them.

Ah the library fine, I always seem to forget to return this particular book on time because I read it a lot.

Ladies and gentlemen this is my future, one of the mice that refuse to die after I inoculated it with my Toxoplasma gondii parasites. DIE DAMMIT DIE, or I will die from losing the parasites :(

You think DSLR camera are cool, try my digital camera microscope. These crescent shaped or half circle shape protozoa are my T. gondi in saline after I extracted it from the mice peritoneal. I then inject these protozoa into another mice, so that these protozoa will replicate. I used the mice as something to hold the parasites and replicated it. Something like a TESCO and Photostat machine.

Unluckily the mice gave birth to these pups.

Why unlucky you might say, its because I have to much already...

and more pups are coming out... I don't have enough space for them. I try to separate them but somehow some males managed to get mixed in, or maybe the mice undergoes pathogenesis. I have way to many of them, killing them is not merciful because they will die with out a cause, if I used them as experiments they will die while contributing to man kind. If you think these mice are cute, wait for the guinea pigs and rabbits...

What is this??? Nothing just trying the manual mode of my camera, I think I used ISO 400and white balanced using the high fluorescent mode along with macro mode.

Lazy Weekend

It was a nice and lazy weekend for me. I'm Lovin It. I went to check up on mice again on Saturday, just to see their condition. Still healthy, not good because if they are healthy it means the parasites is not multiplying fast enough or not even multiplying at all. :(. Not good. What to do meh.. just hope for the best that the parasites is in the mice :(.. So I decided to give my car a wash because it is so filthy... at the car wash I noticed something...

A miniature rooster and its bitches...urk I mean hens.. These are just miniature size of the real thing.
Look closely you can see the rooster is guarding his hens that is nesting inside that potted plant. We used to have these kind of chicken as pets, but they died either from hot weather (what my dad told me) or being eaten by stray dogs :(

My mom was too tired to cook so we decided to got to Pizza Hut and eat this large peperoni pizza. Yumm all that greasy, cheesy goodness :D

But at least I counteract it with this colorful fruit salad consist of honeydew, watermelon, peas, corn, carrots and beans. A very colorful dish that needs to dressing to be eaten. yumm :D

A Bug's Life

I just finished eating an early dinner after I got back from the lab, when my mother suddenly called me out to the kitchen's yard. She exclaimed "Tgk ni ada kumbang hijau"
Wah!!! right. such a unique and beautiful insect. It was near the roller of my mother's laundry's line.
Such nice design and bright colors. First time I saw this species at my yard.
Close up view using my Nokia 6085
See the bug crawl away... :D
