Galaxy Ace with Android Gingerbread 2.3.4

I was like many of the android users out there who was itching to get the new Android Gingerbread OS. Most of the updates are for the high end phones but for mid range phones such as my Galaxy Ace, the update comes later. Well better late than never.

I updated it using the Samsung Kies software. Whenever you connect your phone to Kies, it will inform you whether there was an update to the the firmware. Since there was an update I decided to do it. After around 30 minutes or so, my update was done (depends on your Internet connection). I haven't explored my Gingerbread, but I already feel that it feels a bit faster.

Repairs?

This is the second time my beloved camera has problems. I bought this camera in 2008. I liked it very much, the picture quality is great and it record audio too. It had a problem in 2009, where all my pictures were exposed too much, I was told the aperture had gone haywire. I don't remember how much I paid for it to repairs, but I do believe its above RM100. I am in dilemma on repairing it, or just keep as a memento, since compact digital camera now go as low as RM399. If I did repaired it again, it will cost me around RM100 and above because the same problem has returned, that means RM 200 has gone to repaired it. If I add another RM200, I could get a new one.. Sigh.. but I don't have RM200 to spare, since I need to used it for my next road trip which is to Terengganu.. Still, better to ask on how much is it to be repair, then not know at all right..

So Close..

I think from now on I need to use my compact camera to take pictures, as bulky as it is, the pictures are so much nicer. However the availability of my cell phone to go everywhere I go is something my compact camera can never do :D

My table is always forever messy, ALWAYS. I clean it up only for it to get messy again. Everyday after lab, I would empty my loose change and just dump it in this egg container that you get during weddings. Last month, I accumulated so much coins, I got around RM 150 in change.

Coffee and laptop. Two things a grad student can never live without :p. I can live without coffee, I am not that addicted to it, but then I take at least 2 cups a day :p. My laptop is another story, this is my life and soul for the 2 years of doing post graduate study. My work, my music, my games, my pictures and my po..... urmm.. portraits... :D is kept inside here. Whenever there is too much of it, I will burn it to a DVD and then completely forget I even had them. Also important to burn my research on DVD just in case, god forbid, something happened to my laptop.

Hmm ether, I read somewhere (actually I watched it on TV) that is was used as anaesthesia for operation during the old days. I used this to put my mice to sleep so that I could do work on them. My work uses a lot of needle, contaminated needles so they need to be thrown in the sharp bin.

This is part of an ovitrap, a larvae catching contraption to capture mosquito eggs that lay on it. My two lab mates are doing this for their master research but the new guy is doing molecular work on it. I could smell the paint the used to paint the container black (mosquitoes loves dark places to lay their eggs) and the dettol they used to disinfect the ovitrap.

Ria = Happy :D. My silver elephant, aka the MPV. I think its Malaysia's first real MPV(Rusa and Juara does not count okay ). This American size MPV is a clone from Kia Carnival which is also sold in the UK and US. This humongous MPV with its humongous engine makes carrying 7 people and travelling at 13o km on the highway (with the RPM barely touching 3000rpm) a piece of cake. I been driving it a lot since sometime my mother needs the 190e car to go to Kajang. This silver elephant is not only long and wide but the turning radius is comparable to a lorry.

You need extra skill maneuvering this humongous MPV. So far I am used to it, people don't believe that this MPV is very very easy to handle, the steering, the brakes, and accelerator pedal are as light as those on a Myvi. One of the best memories of driving this MPV is my mother trusting me to drive her and my sister to Perak and then driving Abg Bear, Abg Shah, Arel, Hamdi and Hairie to Arel's Red Night at Riverview. It was like driving a MPV full of children even though I was the youngest one in the group :p. If you drive all week long, getting someone else to drive you is like a bliss, so they all had frocklingly good time in the big comfy seats while I take charge of the open road. Sometimes it reminds me of my kindergarten years where we would take a van to our kindergarten. Full of kids just laughing and gigling all the way to and back from kindergarten :D.

Emirates is a bit special because they gave you old spice deodarant and a set of Bvlgari minatures consist of perfume, aftershave and body lotion. Not only you get this, you will also get a phone. Its not cikai one, but a good quality actually. Its Samsung sliding phone with VGA camera, micro SD slot, mp3 ringtone and player and radio. Its very light and it has a very vivid color screen.

Till Death Do Us Part

Some title right... Till Death Do Us Part, well my master project is something like that. I will stick to it till I can finish it or until death disables me from finishing it. It was an okay day for me, nothing new, just eating lots of mandarin oranges that the suppliers gave to the lab. I will have great skin and clear intestinal tract from eating too many of these mandarin oranges :D...

Just some of the catalogues that the supplier gave me so that I can order some equipments or chemicals from them.

Ah the library fine, I always seem to forget to return this particular book on time because I read it a lot.

Ladies and gentlemen this is my future, one of the mice that refuse to die after I inoculated it with my Toxoplasma gondii parasites. DIE DAMMIT DIE, or I will die from losing the parasites :(

You think DSLR camera are cool, try my digital camera microscope. These crescent shaped or half circle shape protozoa are my T. gondi in saline after I extracted it from the mice peritoneal. I then inject these protozoa into another mice, so that these protozoa will replicate. I used the mice as something to hold the parasites and replicated it. Something like a TESCO and Photostat machine.

Unluckily the mice gave birth to these pups.

Why unlucky you might say, its because I have to much already...

and more pups are coming out... I don't have enough space for them. I try to separate them but somehow some males managed to get mixed in, or maybe the mice undergoes pathogenesis. I have way to many of them, killing them is not merciful because they will die with out a cause, if I used them as experiments they will die while contributing to man kind. If you think these mice are cute, wait for the guinea pigs and rabbits...

What is this??? Nothing just trying the manual mode of my camera, I think I used ISO 400and white balanced using the high fluorescent mode along with macro mode.

Makan-makan di Jusco

I felt a lot better later this day, especially when Abg Awie wanted to belanja me dinner. Yee peee!!! nothing like a good free dinner to perk up the soul :D

See the grin, almost like this emoticons right :D

At the parking lot at Jaya Jusco Cheras Selatan near Balakong.

See the Jusco sign, shine like a shiny start to provide people a place to shop, eat or to watch movies. They have a TGV cinema in there

Abg Awie said I could have anything for dinner, so we decided to go for tepayaki. Tukangtaip was actually the person who encourage me to eat here because I kept seeing tepayaki at his blog.

I had the cold green tea. Not only is was clean, refreshing and a good way to eat any Japanese based food, it also cost 90 cent, so it was a bargain for me. This does not have sugar in it, so it does taste weird to those not accustomed to drinking tea without sugar.

Awie has this exotic dessert called Fuji Ice. Well its just another fancy name for ice kacang :p

Yup this is Abg Awie doing what blogger all over the world do, taking pictures and eternalized it in blogs, cds, hardisk and photo albums

Burp!!!!!!!! that was a good dinner. Thanks Abg for belanja me today :D

We went jalan-jalan around Jusco since there was a sale going on here, I think from 12 Jan to 12 Feb or something..

He eventually settled for a comforter set for his bed. Not bad since the discount was 70% for this comforter, fitted sheet, 2 pillow case and 1 bolster set.

I remember this toy Matchbox car. When I was little, I used to buy this thing and bash them up together.

This is the Shelby Ford Mustang GT with a large capacity supercharged v8 engine...

Well that was my jalan-jalan today, now paying for parking. If you have a Jaya Jusco card, parking is free :D

A Very Unproductive Day..

Shit man, as my younger sister would said. It was a very unproductive day, spent, pretty much doing nothing productive,

See the clutter on my desk, that is the same clutter as yesterday. I still haven't read those journals thoroughly. I also could not contact my prof since I need to return his multichannel pipette to him and get the lab multichannel pipette back because tomorrow is auditing day at the lab and we need every item to be audit.

See the yellow box, its filled with kits for my mice, but I haven't been able to use it lately because it seem the parasite in the mice has not been multiplying rapidly enough. It was bad enough two mice died without me, being able to transfer the parasite from their peritoneum to other mice. Right now I have doubts that the surviving trio of mice, even had the parasite in them.

See, it's 5 pm and I am still in the lab just clicking my camera away. Supposedly working hours have ended, but my prof told me "there is no such thing as working hour, every hour is a working hour of a Master student"

Then I checked the batteries of my camera was going bonkers. It would show that there is one bar left for taking pictures, but after pressing the shutter button the camera suddenly say "battery low" and shut it self off.. Just as I was about to get some more pics.

Seriously I was bummed out today, there is so many things on my mind.. My thesis, my experiment, my life, my car.. but most importantly there is someone that I kept thinking about all day.........

My gadgets (duit elaun yg dileburkan)

I am in the process of making this blog a lot interesting to read and just show my view of the world to those around me. I used the allowance I got from being a minion to my prof (a research assistant) to get me all these gadgets. The quintet above me is the phones I have in my collection. The first one on the left is the Nokia 3310, the model with the faint green light, not the blue one. Then followed by the Sony Ericsson a phone that my father passed down to my mother and my mother passed it to me. It was one of the worlds first colour screen handphone, with not 1 not 10 but 256 colours. It has like all the latest features not is some phone still don't have such as bluetooth, ifrared, mms and a camera, but the camera is the detachable kind that you connect with to the bottom. Then followed by my other "baby" the Nokia 6085, I love the phone, love how it looks, love how the keypad feels and love the function. Too bad it only has a VGA camera, but still, I am satisfied. Lastly the one one the right, the Nokia with the antena is the Nokia 6101. It a rather old model, but I bought it for my Maxis prepaid. I only like Nokia sms system, its far easier for me. By the way all 4 phones still works ..

This my first digital camera I bought with my own money. Its a Samsung S730, a basic point and shoot camera. Its really quite good, with 7.2 megapixel, anti shake, and voice and video recording. It even has some manual functions. Quite happy with it.

My life and soul is in this laptop. Well actually my thesis project and everything about me is in here. I got it for 1750 with a mouse. Quite cheap, but it has a celeron M processor, 512mb RAM, 80gb, and DVD burner. Its ok for doing work and playing some old games, we can play newer games but at the lowest and suckiest resolution.
