From Chamang Waterfall To Genting Highlands

I decided to go on a trip on last Sunday with a bunch of friends. I don't have to travel far for to have a good time, since lots of interesting places are available to me with just a drive away. It helps however to have someone else to drive for you :D.
We were supposed to go to Janda Baik, but somehow we got lost in the middle of nowhere, but at least getting lost is part of the fun :D. Janda Baik was not cutting it for us, so we decided to go to Chamang Waterfall near Bentong Pahang.

No, this is not it, this is a waterfall that we happened to pass by on the way to Bentong. Its definitely missed if you used the highway, use the old trunk road and you will bound to see this.

A photo session is a must. Beside we were tired in the car and needed to get out :D.

No, this is still not the waterfall but instead it was a hot spring pool. An abandoned and unkempt one that is. The facilities are nice, but there was no one to maintain it. As a result, the place was unkempt and the pool was full of algae and other free living parasites.

However there was a natural source of the hot spring near buy on a natural pool or at least the pool was dug up and not tiled. It was fun just soaking your feet here and just take a deep. I heard hot springs contains a lot of sulphur which is good for your skin.

Yes we are here, Chamang Waterfall. Albeit a dangerous place, according to this sign. However no one had died in the pass 3 years. Hopefully it will be kept that way.

Signs were a plenty, and they make sure we understand it, although the signs were not in English. This waterfall contains a lot of strong currents, and whirpool from the concave sand bottom. You can easily be pulled by the current into the whirlpool and be swept away. My friend almost got caught in the whirlpool, but there was a 2 men that pulled him back. Quite dangerous right and that no one would like to come here right....

Wrong... this has to be like one the best waterfall in Malaysia.

See how beautiful the waterfall is, and yes, that whole waterfall is a danger zone due to strong currents and slippery rocks.. but its so nice...

Even though the river current is strong, its only strong in some places. Some places there is no current and its almost like a deep wadding pool. There are plenty of rocks you can just sit on and enjoy yourselves.

Definitely a safe place, if you know which part of the river and waterfall to play in :D

On our way back, we decided to take a detour to Genting Highlands. We wanted to see the scenery and feel the cool weather up there. Mind you we were only in jeans and t shirt and no one brought a jacket.

The cable car to the top is RM 10 for a round trip. This is a good deal since the drive to the top can get very tiring. You can get an excellent view of the Genting forest using the cable car. I wonder if this cable car still hold the record for the fastest moving cable car in Asian or the world. Well for us, it did felt quite fast. Almost too fast.

Once we almost got to the top, there were heavy fog. The cable car also stopped and the car was swaying. Myself and the rest of my friends kinda freaked out a bit, because we weren't sure what happened and it was kinda unnerving to be swaying and not knowing where on earth were we on. It was a twilight zone moment for all of us.

We all then accidentally bought tickets to the outdoor park :p. It was RM 21 for an evening pass. It was not so bad, except we were crazy since it was an impromptu detour of the trip and we did not have any jackets on. However I was finally able to ride the Space Shot. It was definitely a stomach churning ride when you are free falling from the sky, but it was fun ride :D

A place that one must always take pictures in when you are in Genting Highlands. It was a fun trip with friends that you can click and just be yourself. It was tiring but great. I really hope to go to another of these mini vacations again.

The Satay Dinner

Last Saturday was the day of our beloved Kak Pinky arrival to Malaysia from New Zealand. She had a satay dinner planned and I helped her organized the event. I booked the restaurant of her choice, Satay Hj Samuri in Kajang. The one near the Kajang Stadium and across the Kajang Police Station. The event was planned to start at 9.30 but due to Kajang famous traffic jam, most guest arrived near 10pm.

There were 16 people that was on Kak Pinky's list that she gave me on our YM chats which include various bloggers, facebook member, a few of Kak Pinky's friends and her sister. Male guest includes Abg Bear, Dr Shah (Zharn), Dr Josh, Dr Syuk, Hamzan, Ad, Wahdi, Kak Pinky's sisters male friend and conicidentaly a friend that Kak Pinky befriended on her flight home which was actually Josh's church member. Female guest includes Dibah, Dr Shah, Kak Pinky's friend and Kak Pinky's own flesh and blood sister. There were missing guest that were missed dearly which includes Hairie, Hamdi and En Arip. We wished you were here :).

It was my first time meeting Ad and Wahdi after reading their blogs for quite sometime now. Finally I get to see Ad's full face :D and get to see the man behind all the breath taking photographs, nice cars, and saliva inducing recipe, Wahdi :D. You will probably get to read and see the nice looking pictures and their blogs but here is my snippet of pictures I snapped using my VGA camera. Coincidentally, it was Kak Pinky's first time to meet the majority of the bloggers here but since we already knew each other very much through calls and chats, we got along instantly :D.

Wahdi gave Kak Pinky a special and very intriguing present. I was actually baffled of what the food item was. They look like fuzzy pink hamburgers. Kak Pinky was sweet enough to split the food item to us. OMG! they were actually coconut candy sweets!! with melted chocolate marshmallow in the middle!!. WHOA!!! and coconut itself was pink!!!. So cool!! :D

This is Dr Dibah (I did not know she was a Dr until I read Ad's blog) she brought these really cute looking pink frosted cupcakes with the names of the guest that she got written on top.

They were so cute! Unlike other cupcakes I tried, these cupcakes had sweet frosting on top instead of just cream and butter frosting. YUM!!!. I enjoyed the night every much and it was nice meeting old and new friends. Thank god everything went well :D and there were no hiccups with the dinner :D.

I'm cracking, cracking, owh what a world what a world what a cruel world

*one must suffer for flawless skin. Pimples sprouted up here and there so its time to take evasive action. One must suffer for vanity :D.. BTW I was bored while doing this, it does not hurt one bit, but it made my skin less oily the next morning.

Red Eye over Fruit

Am I pissed off?
Did I cry all night long?
Am I planning a revenge to all those who hurt me in the past?
Did I make a pact with the Devil to drag those that hurt me to hell?
Did I get so hurt that I decided to end life now and that my eyes are the first to go....?

Come one lah, I am not that naive/dumb/stupid/melodramatic to do such things (but I admit, those thoughts did pass through my mind :D). My eyes were irritated and it was swollen a bit on Saturday. Probably due to scratching it because it was itchy. Luckily it all went away on Sunday morning.

While I was in bed the whole day on Saturday (I was sick so I decided to rest), my mother and my sister went back to Kampung, because to take our rambutans from our orchard. There was so many rambutan this year that my mom could not stuff enough of them in the Naza Ria. They say rambutan can cause coughing. Well UPM medical treatment is free... let the eating (and coughing begin :D)

So Close..

I think from now on I need to use my compact camera to take pictures, as bulky as it is, the pictures are so much nicer. However the availability of my cell phone to go everywhere I go is something my compact camera can never do :D

My table is always forever messy, ALWAYS. I clean it up only for it to get messy again. Everyday after lab, I would empty my loose change and just dump it in this egg container that you get during weddings. Last month, I accumulated so much coins, I got around RM 150 in change.

Coffee and laptop. Two things a grad student can never live without :p. I can live without coffee, I am not that addicted to it, but then I take at least 2 cups a day :p. My laptop is another story, this is my life and soul for the 2 years of doing post graduate study. My work, my music, my games, my pictures and my po..... urmm.. portraits... :D is kept inside here. Whenever there is too much of it, I will burn it to a DVD and then completely forget I even had them. Also important to burn my research on DVD just in case, god forbid, something happened to my laptop.

Hmm ether, I read somewhere (actually I watched it on TV) that is was used as anaesthesia for operation during the old days. I used this to put my mice to sleep so that I could do work on them. My work uses a lot of needle, contaminated needles so they need to be thrown in the sharp bin.

This is part of an ovitrap, a larvae catching contraption to capture mosquito eggs that lay on it. My two lab mates are doing this for their master research but the new guy is doing molecular work on it. I could smell the paint the used to paint the container black (mosquitoes loves dark places to lay their eggs) and the dettol they used to disinfect the ovitrap.

Ria = Happy :D. My silver elephant, aka the MPV. I think its Malaysia's first real MPV(Rusa and Juara does not count okay ). This American size MPV is a clone from Kia Carnival which is also sold in the UK and US. This humongous MPV with its humongous engine makes carrying 7 people and travelling at 13o km on the highway (with the RPM barely touching 3000rpm) a piece of cake. I been driving it a lot since sometime my mother needs the 190e car to go to Kajang. This silver elephant is not only long and wide but the turning radius is comparable to a lorry.

You need extra skill maneuvering this humongous MPV. So far I am used to it, people don't believe that this MPV is very very easy to handle, the steering, the brakes, and accelerator pedal are as light as those on a Myvi. One of the best memories of driving this MPV is my mother trusting me to drive her and my sister to Perak and then driving Abg Bear, Abg Shah, Arel, Hamdi and Hairie to Arel's Red Night at Riverview. It was like driving a MPV full of children even though I was the youngest one in the group :p. If you drive all week long, getting someone else to drive you is like a bliss, so they all had frocklingly good time in the big comfy seats while I take charge of the open road. Sometimes it reminds me of my kindergarten years where we would take a van to our kindergarten. Full of kids just laughing and gigling all the way to and back from kindergarten :D.

Is it a lazy weekend..

Talk about a lazy weekend, I think the only time I actually went out of the house was to go to my lab and kill some more mice and transfer the parasite into another one. Gosh.. the weekend come and go so fast. Can't say I was bored because there was plenty of things to do, especially catching up the latest gossip and stories with my mum, fooling around with my siblings or just finished up playing Warcraft 3 for the 9th time. There was a certain some one I wanted to go out with but alas work and responsibility got the best of us. Oh well, we still have time...

You know, the next time I feel like I have nothing else to post about, I think I will dug out old pictures in my folders and tell a story about it. That will be nice kan?

This is a picture of me and my youngest sister, flying a kite at Teluk Cempedak. This was nice because we just gotten back from Terengganu after staying at a resort. We both got sunburned because we were foolish enough to follow our American friend to flock around the swimming pool until noon.
