I plan to move into my own house soon, at least when I think I will be doing it. As of writing, I still haven't finished with the loan. I think I am going to list down things that needs to be buy for me to fully enjoy my home. It's kinda scary actually. I am buying a really expensive home relative to my pay. It's about MYR 255k. That seemed expensive but in reality it's the cheapest home among a group of colleagues that are buying houses at the same time too. So I like to fantasize a lot, so I am going to plan what are the things I think I need to have in my house when I plan to live there on my own. These are literally the basics. I plan to shop at two places which is SenQ and Ikea.SenQ is nice because there is a extra warranty of the products, so its a better piece of mind for me. Maybe Ikea won't be on my list because I do think the stuff there is relatively expensive, but we will see

Kitchen

Fridge RM 1,300
Stove RM 200
Microwave  RM 200
Oven Toaster RM 100
Rice Cooker RM 100
Washing machine RM 1300

Living room

TV RM 1000

Bathroom

Heater RM 500

Bedroom

AC RM 1600

Those are excluding fans, light fixtures and grills
Ceiling fans should cost me around RM 150 each, I suspect I will be needing at least 2. One for the master bedroom and the other one for the living room. Maybe I will add another one for the dining area, but who knows.
The grill to cover my windows and front doors should set me back around RM 5k. I'll think I will leave about RM 3k for lights or less. Just simple light fixtures. I plan to keep the house relatively basic. I might opt out for a basic kitchen top, but who knows, if I don';t have enough money, I won't do it, if the it annoys my eyes a lot I might just do

Now lets go to Ikea and find out how much I can spend. I might have trouble here, because Ikea dos not deliver to Nilai. So lets just pick up pieces that I know can't fit in my future car.

Bedroom

Bed RM 300
Mattress RM 1000
Sheets RM 200
Pillow RM 200
Closet and Cupboard RM500

Living room

Couch RM 1500
Small table  RM 30

Dining

Tables RM 300
Chairs, RM 100

Kitchen

Lol..none maybe... use some banquet tables or something...

My romanticized version of moving in is my house will only need to have

Fridge,
Stove
Mattress
Hanging rack

This would cost me around 3k? That is the minimum amount, that I could definitely live day by day, the rest of the stuff can be bough slowly and surely.

For what? For the raya feast lah.. or anytime time porch needs cleaning. The driver? Me lah, of course. If my cloning does not work, a car jockey seemed to be a promising work for me, I just need a manual car to polish my clutching skills

Fruit of the Loom

The rambutan tree at my house is starting to bear its fruits. Is it rambutan season already? The last time our tree bear fruit it was outside the season.

The tree is quite stout and we could do most of the harvesting via just plucking it while standing or using a galah.

The papaya around the house also have bear fruits. My mother harvested it like every week, so every week we will have fresh red papaya in the fridge.

She told me, she never planted the papaya's she said they just grew from the ground probably from birds dropping it seeds. I am not sure about this story but who cares, free papaya every week meh...

Is it a lazy weekend..

Talk about a lazy weekend, I think the only time I actually went out of the house was to go to my lab and kill some more mice and transfer the parasite into another one. Gosh.. the weekend come and go so fast. Can't say I was bored because there was plenty of things to do, especially catching up the latest gossip and stories with my mum, fooling around with my siblings or just finished up playing Warcraft 3 for the 9th time. There was a certain some one I wanted to go out with but alas work and responsibility got the best of us. Oh well, we still have time...

You know, the next time I feel like I have nothing else to post about, I think I will dug out old pictures in my folders and tell a story about it. That will be nice kan?

This is a picture of me and my youngest sister, flying a kite at Teluk Cempedak. This was nice because we just gotten back from Terengganu after staying at a resort. We both got sunburned because we were foolish enough to follow our American friend to flock around the swimming pool until noon.

Just a Day..

Today as you all know is Maulidur Rasul, the prophet Muhammad S.A.W birthday, so its a public holiday in Malaysia. Many people chose to take Friday's off so that they would have a long weekend. Today I also had to wake up quite early because I had to drive my parents to the airport, they had a wedding to attend in Indonesia. Today started off quite well, received a long telephone call from a loved one and it really did start up a good day for me. It was agreed that we go out later in the afternoon, so I schedule my plans around that time. Alas our planned did not go on as planned, so I ended up spending my evening bored and played Warcraft 3 to death. I was kinda pissed off, but then I can't because I did not have a legit reason to get angry. I mean explanation was given, I received 2 missed calls that were 15 minutes a part, but I could not hear it because the volume of my ring tone was too low, and a prior warning was also stated that is had a chance to not happen but I guess I got carried away with the excitement.. again. I really should just stop and think about these things again, instead of just getting carried away. So I was kinda pissed off since I can't get pissed off because there is nothing to get pissed off which just really pisses me off. So I decided to take a nap, at 7pm. Not exactly a wise choice because I ended up confusing reality and dreams. I was not sure if I sms or answered the phone in my dreams or when I was awake. It was very confusing, but I guess when you miss someone presence, it tend to get carried on to your dreams. I guess my subconscious felt the same way too. They say if you are angry, you just lie down and sleep. I did and woke up feeling cranky. So I took a shower and wanted to go to McD. I woke up around 10pm you know, but my expanding waist and shrinking wallet, prodded me to just make something in the kitchen. Unlike the rest of my siblings, I do no say there is nothing to eat, when the fridge and pantry is full of food.

First course, a simple slightly burned chicken franks baked in a toasted oven, smothered with chili sauce and covered with bread. Simple, tasty, but I was still hungry
So I decided to make omelet bodoh. Weird name right, but it was my mom's way of describing a food that is prepared with out adding anything in it other that spices . So basically this omelet is just eggs, pepper, chili flakes, salt and full cream milk. I think I added too much milk because I had to go to the toilet after eating it. I am a little bit lactose intolerant and only full cream milk was available at that time. Or maybe because I was just eating emotionally. At least the hot dog were baked and the omelet was cooked without oil, so I felt less guilty ;). Tomorrow is another day, my DNA extraction kit will arrived (hopefully) and I could extract my T. gondii parasite and then run it through PCR (polymerase chain reaction) to amplify the DNA. My other supervisor waited for me to genomic DNA.. sigh. Its going to be one messy looking DNA because I did not (too slow to order) have the polycarbonate filter to separate the white blood cells from the parasite. White blood cells is one of the cells that contains DNA. So if both parasite and WBCs are present the genomic DNA picture won't be as nice.

My gate is falling down, falling down,

Yup no kidding, our front gate of my parents house, fell down. Ok it did not just fell down, my brother knocked it down.

See the gate landed on top of my mum bougainvillea.

Hey its a blogging oppurtunity while holding up the gate while my little brother was thinking of something.

My brother is the fool with the white shirt. The rest are his friends that came to his resque.

This is the same fool trying to tie up the gate to a wall so that it won't fall down on people especially children.

My car bumper got scratched and dented a little

The car bonnet edge was dented too.

The gate fell on our main pipes. The bust out pipe was repaired only 12 hours later when then water repairman finally came.

We had to use the Naza as gate tu prevent from thieves from coming in so easily. There were cases of thieves stealing lawn furniture you know. Total cost to repair the gate was RM 2000, this is because the gate is bent. Our is a sliding gate so a slight bend is not good and will shorten the life of the motor. This sucks.. so bad..he did something majorly wrong and yet my little brother had the nerves to go jamming today. I tel you.. impossible with that fella...

House of the Damn

Hmm suspicious title eh... sajer je letak. Actually my house is very nice. Ok its not mine, its my parents house. They bought 8 years ago and did many renovations to it. Before it was just your ordinary 4 bedrooms 3 bath rooms double story terrace (or is it linked, I get confused with the housing terms, it tooks me 15 years to find out that Semi detached house or Semi D is the same as Rumah berkembar :p) now its a 7 bedroom 4 bath room house, with 3 living rooms, 2 kitchen and if properly parked, you can fit 3 cars and a MPV in the driveway. We don't have the maid and my mother does the cleaning. Still she has time walking on the threadmill everyday and has pocho poncho (line dancing I think) on Fridays. I just can't imagine a bunch of mothers, some who are Hajah, and some has grandchildren, shaking their hips at a parking in the morning :p. Oh wait we are out of topic hehe, . I think my mother had the hardest time living during the constructing because she liked everything to be nice and clean. There were days where there was a wall missing and they covered it up with plastic only, or a day where everybody had to sleep in the same room because the other rooms had no roof. Seriously all that suffering was worth it because the house we live in now is very very very nice. I mean its going to be hard to make my own house as nice as my parents, but then my parents were in theri 40s when the did this house, so I think I can managed just fine too :).

This is the kitchen, pushed way back to the end of the house, my mom changed the windows from wood frame to aluminium frames so that they would last longer.

Sad looking right.... This when they breakdown the front wall of the house so that we could have another living room, all the furniture placed just anywhere, and the dust that clings to everything.

Everything got pushed backed to the wall so the people can move in and out of the house.

My room was one of the 3 rooms that were added to the house and was one the last ones to be finished.

My parents bedroom had a nice little space added to it, now this area is my parents praying place.

Two of the brand new bathrooms being added, both have a toilet and shower, so there can be no more reason that everyone cannot get ready since we have so many toilets. However in my mom's kampung sometimes there will be 30 people sharing the same bathroom. Still with carefull planning everyone got to take their bath on time.

There is one room in the house which was walled off to add another room. So my parents added a window inside the house so there would be proper circulation in the room.

Basically we damned for living there 8 months of the construction, but it turned out rather well and my mum really liked it. No more moving, this is our house and this is now my kampung. I actually planned to buy a house near here. There is still plenty of vacant land that just started to developed, I plan to lay my hands on one the house at least by 2011, earlier would be better. I think my parents would only let me out of the house if I bought my own home. Alas that is only a plan.. we will see in 201o if that dreams does come through :)
