Nite Out

FYI, the above are my sisters, the below are my friends, just so you won't be confused. Don't mind me on the left corner. I was just a bit off (even more than usual)

Despite it being a boring, moody, emo like weekend, it was not so bad after all. I was forced to go karaokeing with my sisters because my dad forbids it to go out after 11pm? Forced karaoke? Is there such thing? :))...

After dinner with some older friends, some hailed as far as Perak and New Zealand, I just have to hang out with someone closer to my age LOL. The topics are definitely different but both age groups are as engaging as the other. Besides these two know me well and I really needed a distraction because someone whom I thought I have gotten over with, suddenly came up. Ouch!, I was sure screwed up the whole night and into morning. Alas, not much I can do but just deal with it

Greenbox karaoke food rocks since they taste really good, there are variety and there are free flow drinks such as tea, coffee, water ,ice blend, soft drink, and juices. Well, I did try to drink 2 glasses of water and I did drink coffee with 1 teaspoon of sugar beside the sugary stuff they offer. Also, I had more veggies than other stuff they have on the menu. You know, I am definitely choosing better drinks and food now, or at least if I have something sinister to eat, I will drink a glass of plain water afterwards. Hey a dude can try to change his lifestyle a bit, although his gym going buddies says he is not trying enough. I don't care really, I am doing it my way now, and nobody is going to change but me.

*to you, I like to say "thanks" you definitely prove that I have to change for the better. I don't hate you at all, heck, I'll still be friendly with you if you decide to meet me again, heck I know we will meet again, we share mutual friends. Maybe we can get be something, but I guess now is not a good time yet. I might have my down days because of you, but just know that, I will get better, not just to get you, but whoever else in the future that is right for me...thank again you...

A Get Away

I had a short trip to Pahang last Sunday, via public transportation. Its been a while since I took the public transportation after I started to know my way around while driving. I took the Komuter from Serdang to KL Sentral

Then took a monorail from KL sentral to Titiwangsa, only after I arrived, I felt foolish, since the STAR LRT also goes to Tittwangsa -_-"

I took a bus to Raub, where my friend will pick me up. Its been years since I rode a bus, the last time I took the bus was during my diploma years for my trip to and from Arau, Perlis

Ahh.. the hills are alive with fresh air and chirping of birds

A pregnant monkey hanging and swinging on branches.

A nice flower

Another nice flower

This is an interesting flower

We took the motorcycle up the hill. I love this Yamaha LC, its has really good pickup.

Yeah, I was at Frasier Hills, I don't even remember if I ever been here before.

Theoretically, I was supposed to go back by bus, but we took a wrong turn, and went into Batang Kali.. Ouch.. Out from Pahang and into Selangor. No wonder the car registration plate was different :p.

Now the Komuter operates from Tanjung Malim to Rawang. The reason why is that they used a the diesel train instead of the electric train, so you need to change trains at Rawang. A ticket from Batang Kali to Serdang is only RM 5.80.

The trip was fun and worth it. I had great time just trying something new and adventurous, but I did get blisters from sitting on a motorcycle for a long time, something that I haven't done for a long time

Food = Arabic

Oooh Barbican.? Yes Barbican, its a non alcoholic beer. Its made as the same thing as beer which is malt and hops, but its not processes into beer. This is a raspberry flavoured one and taste nice, and not too sweet :).

Peppermint Tea for my friend

Grilled Lamb and Beriyani rice with Tomato sauce and sour cream on the side, with these incredibly insanely SPICY chillies. I know because I took a bite out of it.

Arabic salad and then grilled chicken with arabic bread and garlic sauce.
Everything was soo good, but I can't help thinking that this reminds me of how my parents cook :p. They know how to make everything on the menu except the bread. We even ate Basmati rice (which is used to make the Beriyani) each day. I am not exactly surprised that is taste like this because its something I am used to eat, but then to have something that taste exactly like home cooking, now that is a feat itself. Even the priced is reasonable, for the exotic dish that we ate, about RM 50 for two, almost the same price at William. Hmm.. not sure if my family would want to go here, but this is definitely a place to eat..Err.. where is it... hik.. sorry I forgotten the take a snap of the restaurant -_-" its one of those restaurants located in a up class housing area in Ampang. I will informed you all ASAP :D

Food and Friends

Eating is good, going out with friends is good too, but combining them two together is the best.
Seafood dinner at Riverview restaurant at Sg Buloh. Heavenly.

Grilled lamb by my dad. These came all the way from Sudan. Finger licking good.

Baked chocolate chip almond bar.

Slightly different from the normal way of baking the cookie. This make it every cake like.

Although regulars ones are nice and crispy

Tepayaki beef, chicken and shrimps with mushrooms at the Legend Hotel.

Hmm Mix Grill at William. Yum, with pandan chicken, sausages, chicken scramble and 2 types of salami with a side of mashed potatoes.

Baked Lasangnia, suprising sour. Like really sour as is someone trying to kill me with vinegar, but the meatballs saved the day, as always.
Ricosta with seafood. I am not sure if I spelled that right, it has servings of baked salmon, shrimps, clams and bamboo clams. Yum!

A Japanese buffet dinner at the Legend Hotel. Yum! all you can eat raw seafood ;)

Don't fret, they also many other types of cooked food.
Food should always be enjoyed with people you love to be around :)

Homecooked feast

My friends and I had this wonderful feast last Saturday. Instead of the host preparing the food or the guest bringing in the food ala "pot luck", it was decided that the guest come over with raw ingredients and cook in the host kitchen. We all got to show off our culinary skills in the kitchen. The theme was "my mum's cooking" which is basically the simpe food that our mum's make that so good, it can be also called as comfort food.

Kerabu Sotong a marvelous mixture of cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, squids, vinegar, salt and other veggies.

Sambal sardine, sardines cooked in tomato sauce and chille, while garnished with deep fried potatoes.

Ayam Percik, grilled chicken with a special "percik sauce"

Ikan selar goreng, simple friend fish that is fried extra crispy.

It was requested that I made these fresh chocolate chip almond cookies. I had to use an old pictures because the cookies were gone as soon as they were out of the oven. Another satisfied group.

Cut into pieces

This a bag with the frozen cat inside.

A pouch containing some surgical tools

I first peel the head of the cat to reveal the skull.

It was tedious since the skull in incredibly hard and my scalpel blade kept breaking off

So I decided to get some new tool, which includes a saw, some knifes and a knife sharpener.

I need to saw off the skull before I can reach the brain.

Then I tried to pry the pieces open.

I am trying to pick out the shrunken brain. I put it in ziplock bag for future use.

Then I cut the gut open so that I could get the lungs, heart, and liver.

My lab mate help to photograph me in action. Beside he was stress out because of his work so he decided watching me hacking a frozen cat would be a perfect way to unwind. :p

Apple Crumble

I was invited to a friends BBQ last Saturday, instead of an Oreo Cake, I decided to make Apple Crumble

We need 2 teaspoon of all spice

3 tablespoon of cinnamon

6 Granny Smith Apples

1/4 cup of butter

3/4 cup of oats

3/4 cups of brown sugar

1 and 1/2 cup of flour
Preheat the oven to 180 Celsius. Mix the butter, flour, oats, sugar, cinnamon and all spice in a bowl until they resemble bread crumbs. Add in a pinch of salt if you choose to. Peel and core the apples and lay or just throw them in a buttered baking dish. Scattered the bread crumbs on the apples. Bake in the oven for 20 minutes or until the apples are soft.

Voila, its done. This is a healthy dish because we used brown sugar instead of granulated white sugar. It has the goodness of oats, cinnamon and all spice. You can experiment on how sweet you want the dessert to be or how much butter or margarine you would like to use. You can use other fruits instead of apples but the fruits need to be tart/sour. If the fruits are not tart then you may need to add some lemon juice and lemon zest to the fruit mixed. A fruit dessert needs to be a little tart or it will be sickly sweet.
