Beastly

Beastly? Sounds like Coach Beastie in Glee, a french name.

As I wrote earlier, this move is an adaptation of the famous fairy tale, Beauty and The Beast

We have the "prince" an arrogant high school student who believed good looks are everything. He can't help it, his dad ingrained this idea in him every single day. Poor thing had to BBM his dad for attention.

His bitterness and arrogance has lead him to become this bald tattooed person, who is shunned from everyone.

This is the witch who decided to teach him a lesson that you are only as beautiful as you are inside

This was the girl, who actually could see through his arrogance. In fact she loved his straight forward manner and non pretentious views, however obnoxious it is.

This a the blind tutor that also sees what a beautiful person he is on the inside, which is hurting but tried to cover it up with being arrogant.

This is a chick flick. Meaning, your girl friends and the girl in you, would love it. My sister said she has not seen this type of movie for a long time (what about Twilight?, I think I am Number 4 got some chick flick stuff in it too?). The audience seemed to liked it too, with all of us going aww and oooh at the same time. I think its worth watching if you are into these type of movies. Give it a shot.

Mars Needs Moms

MnMs !!!!

Yes.. Mars Need Moms!!!

I saw a trailer of this move when I watched I am Number 4, courtesy of Nuffnang.I have to be nerdy about this, why do Martians need moms? The only logical reason I have, is that Martians do not have any birth mothers, the offsprings are cloned and grown in Petri Dishes or the reproduce asexually via binary fision or budding. However after seeing the trailer, they're were variations between the Martians, including a girl Martian that is a rebel. The moment I saw the trailer I heard the voice of Milo's mom, I thought she was Lynette Scavo.. Eeeek WRONG.. she was the voice of Jessie the Yodeling Cowgirl, Joan Cusack, who is John Cusack sister.

Synopsis

Take out the trash, eat your broccoli—who needs moms, anyway? Nine-year-old Milo (Seth Green) finds out just how much he needs his mom (Joan Cusack) when she’s nabbed by Martians who plan to steal her mom-ness for their own young. Produced by the team behind “Disney’s A Christmas Carol” and “The Polar Express,” “Mars Needs Moms” showcases Milo’s quest to save his mom—a wild adventure in Disney Digital 3D™ and IMAX® 3D that involves stowing away on a spaceship, navigating an elaborate, multi-level planet and taking on the alien nation and their leader (Mindy Sterling). With the help of a tech-savvy, underground earthman named Gribble (Dan Fogler) and a rebel Martian girl called Ki (Elisabeth Harnois), Milo just might find his way back to his mom—in more ways than one.

I am Number 4

This is another movie starring Alex Pettyfer, the other one is Beastly. I think they filmed these movies at the same time or concurrently. So now we know how Alex Pettyfer got really fit, since he does lots of his own stunts in this move.

Look, its Diana Argon (Quinn) from Glee, of all the Glee cast members she seemed to be able to get some small roles on the big screen, Burlesque was the other movie she has a role in.

Imagine you are hunted down and you had to find away to survive. You also acquired new abilities that require you to master them in a short time

At least you would have someone to give you a crash course in using your new skills and she might just teach you new ones.

Check out the trailer

Did you hear that Number One was killed in Malaysia, in the trailer :). LOL..

By the way Nuffang is giving away free tickets to this movie. Why don't you guys check it out :)

I’ve Got the Power with Sucker Punch

Sucker Punch

I have seen the preview of this movie a few times in the cinema and I kinda liked it. The soundtrack is very rock and the girls are pretty hot. The main character reminds me of the cheerleader in Heroes. Its a very CGI based movie but then most movies showing now are, anyways.

Synopis of the movie

Close your eyes. Open your mind. You will be unprepared. “Sucker Punch” is an epic action fantasy that takes us into the vivid imagination of a young girl whose dream world provides the ultimate escape from her darker reality. Unrestrained by the boundaries of time and place, she is free to go where her mind takes her, and her incredible adventures blur the lines between what’s real and what is imaginary.

She has been locked away against her will, but Babydoll (Emily Browning) has not lost her will to survive. Determined to fight for her freedom, she urges four other young girls—the outspoken Rocket (Jena Malone), the street-smart Blondie (Vanessa Hudgens), the fiercely loyal Amber (Jamie Chung) and the reluctant Sweet Pea (Abbie Cornish)—to band together and try to escape their terrible fate at the hands of their captors, Blue (Oscar Isaac), Madam Gorski (Carla Gugino) and the High Roller (Jon Hamm).

Led by Babydoll, the girls engage in fantastical warfare against everything from samurais to serpents, with a virtual arsenal at their disposal. Together, they must decide what they are willing to sacrifice in order to stay alive. But with the help of a Wise Man (Scott Glenn), their unbelievable journey—if they succeed—will set them free.

Other than looking like the cheerleader in Heroes, Emily Browning starred as Violet in Lemony Snicket A Series if Unfortunate Events in 2004. Well, now Emily is much older, blonder and has longer eye lashes. I personally think this movie would be a good movie. According to past movies, any movies that has a woman as the main character in a Superhero type movie, would usually suck and be a box office flop such as Catwoman or Elektra. If the woman accompanied by other characters, the movie would turn out very good actually. So I am definitely looking forward to see this movie.

For this Nuffnang contest we needed to write a blog post titled “I’ve Got the Power with Sucker Punch”, and tell them what we would do to escape if we were held against our will with Babydoll and her team.

I can definitely relate to them, how they used their mind to escape reality. Reality can be harsh and sometimes your mind is the only safe place to be. I love dreaming and day dreaming. Sometime I could just fly away in thoughts..

So what would I do if I were trapped with Babydoll in asylum with a lobotomy waiting for me? I am not as fit as they are and even I was as fit as they are the dream sequence, I think they have enough kick ass weapons. We got a katana, a two hand sword, a Magnum, a sniper and an axe thrower. So I think I would on the chemical and biological warfare.

Ah my lovely recombinant surface antigen proteins that I developed.

I'll make an aqueous solution of it so that it will be easier to use to infect our common enemies.

A little blood sample to test the effectiveness of my biological weapon

Some animal testing was done to check the efficacy of the recombinant surface antigen

Time to pack them nicely in appendof tubes for easier transportation

In reality I will just contaminated a batch of cookies and serve them to the guards. Once the guard is down with agonizing pain, it will give time for Babydoll and the gang to find the 5 thing that we need to escape. I hope it will give them enough time to accomplish everything that we planned...

Beastly...It's What Underneath...

A twist on another fairy tale? This time Beauty and The Beast, a classic french fairy tale which was titled La Belle et la BĂȘte.  Yup, its french. If you watched the famous Disney's version of Beauty and The Beast, you would know that the main character was named Belle, which is the French equivalent of Beauty, hence the title of the story. The Disney version of the tale managed to win an Academy Award for Best Original Score and Best Original Song while it manages to win Best Picture - Musical or Comedy in Golden Globes award. So Beastly has a pretty high bar that it needs to follow. So what is Beasty about?

Seventeen year old Kyle (Alex Pettyfer) is the spoiled, shallow and incredibly popular prince of his high school kingdom. Entirely captivated and empowered by his own physical appearance, Kyle foolishly chooses Kendra (Mary-Kate Olsen), a witch masquerading as a high school student, as his latest target for humiliation. Unfazed by his cruel behavior, Kendra decides to teach him a lesson – she transforms him into someone as unattractive on the outside as he is on the inside. Now he has one year to find someone who can see past the surface and love him, or he will remain “Beastly” forever. His only hope, a quiet classmate he never noticed named Lindy (Vanessa Hudgens), may be his best chance to prove that love is never ugly.

Sounds like regular secondary/college/university story for me. Although no one is that evil.. right? right?.. RIGHT???

Anyhow.. I have no idea who is Alex Pettyfer, upon some Googling, I found out that he is English and he does have a few movies under his belt. One of the other movies that Alex is starring in is "I am Number 4" which release in the US on 18th of February 2011!!, we only get to see this movie on 24th February 2011. Beastly is however is released world wide on 4th of March but Nuffnang is giving opportunity to its members by holding a contest (like the one I am blogging now) so that we could watch in on the 2nd of March, which is like a freaking 2 days earlier from the rest of the world. AWESOME!!.. Wait back to Alex, yes he is English, yes he has a few movies under him, he is only 20 years old (same age as my youngest brother) and he has 2 movies that will be released quite close to each other. Wow, he has been quite busy.

Then we have Mary Kate Olson, you don't know who she is? She is Michelle from the late 80s and early 90s sitcom, Full House. She is the shorter, brunette, anorexic sister of Ashley Olson. I am glad she is returning to the screen. I kinda like her witch persona in the trailer. Nice!

We have also, Vanessa Hudgens, the ex of Zac Effron, the star of high school musical, and one of the many artist who have their nude photos uploaded into the net. She only 22 and done so much ;). I still like her nevertheless and like Alex she has two movies releasing quite close to each other which is called Sucker Punch (Nuffnang is holding a contest for the movie too!! YEAY!!)

Anyhow other than blogging people about what this movie is about, Nuffnang asked us..

If I were a Beast given ONE chance to prove that I am worthy to be human again, I would...

My answer was

"say that I’m sorry. I’m sorry that I hurt you, I’m sorry that I lied to you, I’m sorry that I betrayed your trust. I only wish that you would be happy again as you did before. I’m sorry.."

I guess when you hurt a person that is dear to you, you are a beast, which makes me a beast. When a friendship is ruin because of lust it makes me a beast, but at the same time its not all about lust. So I lost a friend while gaining a new one. However it does not make it right so I do apologize for my mistakes and all I hope is that you will be happier now and in the future.....

The Social Network

I was one the lucky ones who won tickets to see The Social Network, the crowd also included Hitz.FM listeners that won the contest too. This movie starring Jessie Eisenberg (who also starred in the movie Zombieland and strangely looks like Michael Cera) is a movie about how Facebook was founded and how Mark Zuckerberg became the youngest billionaire (dammit he is my age :( and I haven't started working yet). This movie was actually based on a book called "The Accidental Billionaires" by Ben Mezrich, who wrote the book based on Eduardo Saverin guides and other people around Zuckerberg except Zuckerberg himself. As you can see in the film, it depics Zuckerberg as nerd, a hacker, a thief, an asshole, a genius, an opportunist, a backstabber and a billionaire. So definitely not Zuckerberg friendly, heck even Zuckerberg said most of the stuff in the movie was not true. Hey, if I was depicted as badly as he was in the movie, I would say the same thing too.

Its fun to see how Facebook changed our lives, even though there is Myspace and Friendster offering the same thing. Quite funny how we deal our lives on the net. How we got closer and at the same time farther with people we know on Facebook. Facebook has become as common as the handphone/cellphone.

The thing I liked the most about Facebook compared to the other social networking sites, is that in Facebook, everything is clean and clear. Everybody's profile looked the same without annoying fonts and background imaged. Also the annoying music video, porn, sacred books, baby giggling videos played out loud, together when you open a friends profile. This is why I am on Facebook, like everyday just seeing what other people are up too.

This is a great movie to watch for people who are on Facebook, who wants to know, what is the behind story.

*After I finished the movie, I quickly sent it an sms to my Twitter account which is linked to my Facebook account to say I liked the movie. LOL. I wonder if other social networks would be made into a movie... haha.. they wish ;)

**Justin Timberlake acting is quite good in this movie. Disney's star, Brenda Song, got crazy in this movie, and doing things that Disney will never approved LOL.

IF I HAD RAPUNZEL’S HAIR

Rapunzel, Rapunzel let down your fair hair

If I had Rapunzel’s hair, or more precisely 70 feet of magical golden blonde hair, what would I do with it?

The movie shows that Rapunzel had complete control of her hair. She can move it at will and the hair itself has incredible strength as you can see it in the trailer.

Unlike the original story, the hair is merely just a rope for the prince, the hair also was braided to increased its strength, so that the witch could climb up the tower. Also her hair has to be hang on a hook, so that she won’t use her scalp as an anchor point (unlike our fellow Malaysian who can).

Rapunzel in the movie Tangled Up reminds me of a Marvel Comics character called Medusa. Medusa’s has long, thick, red hair that is stronger than an iron wire of the same thickness. She can elongated it, or lift up to 1.6 tons (about 1600kg). She could control each strands of air via psychokinetic ability (moving objects with her mind). She can snap it like a whip, bind objects, perform delicate manipulation such as picking a lock or coordination skills such as typing. She can use her hair to sense things that it touches. We can say Rapunzel is like Medusa’s magical blonde cousin.

Medusa fiery red hair

So what would I do with 70 feet of magical golden hair?

Multi Task…

Since each hair could be manipulated, I could mentally assign each hair to do a specific task. Instead of taking 2 hours to clean my mice cages, my hair could do it in 30 minutes. I could type my thesis and still do lab work. I can juggle books, journals and online articles. My master would be finished in half the time it is going to take now :)
Sigh…

Anyhow I got a lot of pictures of my hair. It has gone through many changes such as different lengths to the standard crew cut I always, to extreme changes such a drastic color change or chemical straigtening.

The good, the bad, the ugly, the "what the hell were you thinking"

However I think I could challenge a Nuffie named Firdauz.

This is me, when I was 10 years old. If I don’t get a haircut within 3 months, curls and more curls will appear. It made many Chinese Auntie green with envy. When I stayed in Segamat, old Chinese ladies would ask, where I did my hair. I was born this hair while they would willingly stay for 4 hours at the salon to get it. This probably how my magical raven black curly hair would look like

Team Edward or Team Jacob

This is another contest from Nuffnangs that they do periodically to promote movies and stuff. So I decided to enter it and hope that I will get tickets too. They asked a question whether you like Edward or Jacob. So its basically are you Team Edward of Team Jacob.

Aiyak!

You made the contest into “are you in Team Edward or Team Jacob”? T_T

this is girl biased!
feminism!!

*what to expect, this is a girls novel………………………………………………

Despite all the fascination or obssesion of Edward and Jacob, to be frank I find the vampire life much more interesting than a shape shifters life. Yes boys and girls Jacob is a shape shiter, they just conviniently change into a wolf, so in theory, they actually they can turn into some other animals, but their ancestors changed into wolves first, so each generation followed that choice.

Back to the point,

Yeah, I think being an immortal vampire with hard marble skin, increased strength, increased agility and becoming unrealisticly good looking is very cool. If you are in luck you might have special powers other vampires don’t such as Edwards emphatic powers which is basically being able to read people thoughts.

A vampire is cool, look how insanely rich they are since they live such long lives, they buy collectors item and sell it off. Sure we have that killing humans and drinking their blood, but come on, you can always choose to become a vegetarian and drink animal blood only. Besides in order to live in your own Coven, you do need to drink animal blood versus human blood, unless you are a Volturi.

Besides, if I was a vampire, I think Jane would be awesome as my mate. She is so evil and sadistic, its so attractive. Maggie from the Irish conven would cool too with her lie detector
I would love to be a vampire and have my own special ability. I would probably study a lot just like the Cullens do, I’ll have so many bachelor, master and PhD certificates, that it would crazy. All the time in the world to study and all the time to recreate your identity.

How could you not like being a vampire?

Besides, its actually easy to become Twilight vampire in real life

You just need a pair of Freshlook Colorblends in Honey for that I am vegetarian vampire look, wear those whitening mask to lightening your skin weekly, use Oil Of Olay Total Effects that has sparkles in them that makes your skin glimmers in the sun and drive the latest Volvos in the market. You can get all of these in Malaysia now. Both Volvo’s the silver C30 in the first movie and blac XC60 in the second movie is available in Malaysia.

Tell me how the heck are you going to turn into a werewolf? fur coats? wolf suits?

So I guess I am in Team Edward and I will tell Benjamin from the Egyptian coven and freeze, burn, bury or suffocate the wolves to death (Benjamin has the power to control Earth, Fire, Water and Air)

Go EDWARD aaaaaaah (screams and jumps like a girl)

The Killers in One Utama

Another free ticket fron Nuffnangs. YEAY!!! :D. This time I will be watching The Killers, staring Ashton Kutcher and Katherine Heigl. The story is quite simple.

Boy meets girl. Boy is a super spy, girl is girl who just got dumped by her geeky boyfriend

Boy and girl like each other, got married, became husband and wife live happily for 3 years

After 3 years, wife find out husband is a spy and there are assasins send out to kill him.

Wife decided to get in the action. Wife learned how to shoot a gun, steal a car and perhaps try to kill the assasins who are after her husband

Husband shoots all the assasins into pieces
The story line is quite simple and is very fun to watch. Its like watching Mr and Mrs Smith, except only Mr Smith is the spy and Mrs Smith is a clueless wife who suddenly gets pulled into action. Ashton and Katherine are as charming and funny as they can in this film and is what viewers expect. Lots of actions scene from Ashton, not to mention the akward and sexy scene in the elevator. I always have a soft spot for anyone acting geeky and weird when they see the person they like. One of my favourite line (Okay.. I'm gonna bathe in shame now). Besides I like Ashton and Katherine for being attractive, funny, akward people that I like. However, I am biased over romantic comedies/chick flicks, but like Mr and Mrs Smith, they combined action and romantic comedies together. So if you do want to bring your boyfriend or someone who hates romantic comedies, this is a good compromise since you get a bit of both worlds. However they still cannot beat Mr and Mrs Smith, but it still an enjoyable movie to watch
*I love the scene where Mr and Mrs Smith were in arm combat and when Mr Smith knocks Mrs Smith out and said "Whose your daddy?" then soon after that, Mrs Smith kicks Mr Smith to ground and reply "Whose your daddy now?". Its arousingly funny >:D

I wanna Watch Toy Story 3D

Toy Story is coming out with its 3rd movie, called Toy Story 3, in 3D. 3D movies are definitely something worth spending extra to watch, because the depth sensation from the 3D glasses makes viewing more realistic. This is continuation of Toy Story 2, where Andy has grown up and going to college. He does not know what to do with the toys. Somehow the toys end up at a kindergarten. The original toys at the kindergarten first welcomed them but somehow something seemed not right when Woody and the Gang gets separated. Now Andy is looking for them and the Toys must find a way to go back to Andy.

There are many new characters in this film, however one of them caught my eye. Its this purple jelly octopus called Stretch. She (yup a She, I thought it was a He too) is voiced by Whoopi Goldberg, the women who won best Supporting Actress in the movie Ghost (remember that Clay vase making scene...)

You know what Stretch reminds me of?

Silly Putty is like this gooey but solid dough that will ooze it self into nooks an crannies while maitain high tension. (basically it will stretch a lot before it breaks) and perfect for making fake mucus. Other thing it reminded me is those, flat tomatoes that you see these people demonstrate at shopping malls that goes totally flat when you drop it, but it retains it shape after wards. I wanna get one soon :D

The Descent 2

I went to watch this movie, with my sister last week, courtesy of Nuffnang. I never knew there was a The Descent 1, so I was surprise there was a second movie.

What if you had a secret. A deep dark secret, as deep and as dark as an uncharted cave? What kind of things would we find lurking in there? Would you risk your self to let that secret out?

What kind of tricks does the mind plays with us in the dark? Is it really just mind tricks?

What would you do to survive? How further would you go to ensure you would be alive the next day?

This was what our main character. Sarah. has to face when she went down the cave, went out barely alive, and had to be forced to go down the cave again. She made it out alive once, but will she make it out again?

This is a typical scare, boo, gore movie. Everything is really much expected to happen, so don't be looking for a "story" because it plays a small role. All you really want to see is the hack, slash, and gore, while the camera pans for a surprise. Its quite enjoyable indeed. However this movie is about your deep dark secret and what would you do if the opportunity arrives, where you can literally bury your deep dark secrets. I got plenty of deep dark secrets too, it involves many humans too. Would I actually, bury them alive in the cave if I had the chance? I wonder if this is just anger typing or myself?. I mean if it happened accidentally during my angry moments, it would feel good if not better...........................................So? don't invite me to any caving expeditions if I have been angry with you, chances are, the grudge might still be living inside of me...
*I am tired of dealing with people that I refuse to cut ties with because I owe them the past. Seriously, I might just cut you off despite the past that we have. I am very good at cutting people out of my life, don't think that I won't do the same with you

A Nightmare On Elm Street

One, Two, Freddy's coming for you...

Yes, he is back in this remake of the popular franchise that scared viewers in the 80s. Yes this is a remake, with a twist here and there. Since its a remake, there is nothing that much new since we know all the modus operandi of Freddy. However, I only seen bits and pieces of the movie when I was young. Howeverm one thing that seemed to remain permanent, is Freddy's red shirt. I still remember when I was young, when I was afraid of the dark, I would "see" Freddy's red and black stripped sweater, and I would run like crazy to the lighted part of the house. Yep, its something from everyone's childhood, that we remember, about that crazy psychopath guys that kills teenagers. Some people might like to watch Freddy again in a different skin, however some might compared it to the original film and hate it. What do you expect. Its a REMAKE.. of course they need to maintain most of the original character and story line. Its story that will make us remember watching the old Freddy Kruger movies. Well, those who lived to watch the movies that were made in the 80s of course. However, this movie will introduce the new generations, the movie that some of us grew up watching and scaring our selves silly...

Twilight Saga - New Moon (How to become one)

First of all, I have to say, the crowd at Pavillion on the Eve of Aidil Adha/Raya Haji was INSANE. There were so many people, like I have never seen this much crowd before. It helps that Friday was a public holiday and Thursday was the premier of the New Moon movie in Malaysia, although some had watched on Wednesday night. It was packed to the brim.

The twilight series had a strong following, some even called it a cult (Miley Cyrus apparently hates Twilight and calls its fans a cult, wait.. so doesn't she have die hard fans who worship her totally..hmm I sense jealousy). Girls are practically worshipping Edward and now Jacob. Most guys in Malaysia can look like Jacob. You just have to cut your hair short like Jacobs, his already black, and you just need a bit of gel to shine it up a bit. Make sure you are clean shaven, and oh yes. get a trainer, hit the gym and diet like crazy. It took Taylor Lautner less than a year, to transform himself from slim to ripped. He has the same problems most skinny guys have, which was not being able to gain enough weight. (Bastards...). However with lost of weight training and kilos worth of protein shake, now you can have that same oooh, ahhh and giggles that girls and some guys (regardless of sexual orientation, most guys are amazed with another man's incredibly buff body). You can also be like Edward, just stay out of the sun or use Loreal Mens Expert White Activ range, to be as fair as you can be, then dye your head in a bronze colour, and use pomade for the messy look. You also must have the car, you can either get the Volvo C40 like what Edward had in the first film or get the Volvo XC60.

Whiter skin with Loreal Men's Expert White Activ

Freshlook Colourblends in Honey for that I just drank a whole cow's blood look.

Volvo C30 that retails at RM 215,500.00

Volvo XC60 T6 LE that retails at RM 360,000.00

No wonder girls love him so much. He has great skin, great eyes, very protective, very loving, has a nice car, and loyal to you for the rest of eternity. Gee.. you can get all of that except for the last part..

Pisau Bulan

New Moon is coming out on the 26th in Malaysia. Darn, I haven't read the second book yet, and we have all 4 of the book in our house courtesy of my sisters. The book is much better of course since it has much more details that had to be left out in the movie. Perhaps I will pick up the book later.

The Nicole and Paris of Malaysia. Panass, (That's hot). Oh my Dior, its a fun movie to watch, a bit slapstick because you laugh at their characters. Its a good looking movie since most of the actor and actress are models. A worthy Malay movie to watch, that is different from what is out there now, but one does wonder if they were planning to do a sequel with the same airheadness that is portrayed here.
